8 Days / 7 Nights – Butang Islands Expedition

After a morning swim and breakfast, we depart for Koh Rok, about 16 NM away.

• Koh Rok is a protected national park with excellent snorkeling
• Several snorkel sites can be visited during the day
• Go ashore in the afternoon to look for large monitor lizards

You can also follow a short trail to a viewpoint before returning to the yacht for the night.

After the usual morning routine of swimming, snorkeling and breakfast, we sail to Koh Tarutao, about 37 NM from Koh Rok.

• Tarutao is one of Thailand’s largest islands and entirely a national park
• Take the kayaks deep into mangrove rivers, or explore long, empty beaches on the west side

We spend the night near a remote beach, falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle.

We depart early from Koh Tarutao and sail about 25 NM to the Butang Islands.

• This group of around 14 islands has only recently been discovered by tourists
• Expect pristine beaches, waterfalls and excellent snorkeling

We spend nights 4 and 5 here, adjusting the exact anchorages to your preferences for snorkeling, beach time or exploring different islands.

A full day dedicated to exploring the Butang archipelago.

• Sail short hops between deserted beaches and coves
• Snorkel over healthy reefs with rich marine life
• Optional waterfall hike or simply relax on deck with amazing views

We spend a second night in the Butang Islands, making this the highlight of the voyage.

We leave early while you enjoy breakfast on board and head back towards Koh Rok, around 43 NM away.

• Arrive in the afternoon with time for more swimming and snorkeling
• This area is also one of the best fishing grounds in Thailand

We’ll have the lures out to try for tuna (perfect for sashimi) or a king mackerel for dinner before spending the night at Koh Rok.

After breakfast we enjoy another swim and snorkel at Koh Rok before sailing 16 NM back to Koh Ha.

From there we continue to Koh Phi Phi Leh:

• Pick up a mooring in the famous Maya Bay, surrounded by sheer limestone cliffs
• Enjoy a perfect sundowner anchorage and spend the night here

Our last morning is spent at Koh Phi Phi Don, in Tonsai Bay.

• Time for a walk through town and a hike to the viewpoint if you wish

Back on board:

• Enjoy a healthy breakfast underway to Koh Maithon, known for frequent dolphin sightings

A pod of bottlenose dolphins is often found here, to the delight of visiting yachts.

Finally we sail the last leg back to Chalong Bay, Phuket, aiming to arrive around 17:00, where your journey ends.
