A diver’s paradise in the Andaman Sea
The Similan Islands sit in a protected national marine park around 140 km northwest of Phuket. Above the surface, you’ll find iconic boulder-strewn beaches and jungle-covered hills; below the surface lies some of Thailand’s clearest water and richest coral reefs.
Visibility often exceeds 30 metres, making this one of the best regions in the country for diving and advanced snorkeling. Granite boulders, canyon-like swim-throughs and colourful soft corals create a dramatic underwater landscape, home to reef sharks, turtles and, in season, manta rays and whale sharks.

What you can experience
- World-class scuba diving at sites like Elephant Head Rock and Richelieu (via extended itineraries)
- Snorkeling over shallow reefs with excellent visibility
- Trekking to viewpoints for panoramic island and ocean views
- Relaxing on pristine beaches in a protected national park environment
The Similan Islands are typically visited on overnight or multi-day yacht charters during the dry season (roughly November to April), when sea conditions and visibility are at their best.
